  3. How can I get a duplicate license?
    If you have a photo-imaged license, you may request a duplicate license or by calling the RMV Contact Center.

  4. What do I need to get my learner's permit?
    Please refer to our Learner's Permit Overview section for a list of requirements and necessary identification.

  5. How can I get a duplicate learner's permit?
    You must appear in person at an RMV Full Service Center to have a duplicate permit issued for $15. If your permit has expired you need to take and pass the written test and pay the $30 fee to obtain an updated permit.

  6. How do I obtain a copy of my driving record?

  7. May I get a clearance letter faxed to another state?
    Yes. Please contact the Suspension Department at 857-368-8200 for information on this.

  8. I received my new license in the mail but some information is wrong. How do I correct it?
    Please contact the RMV Contact Center and a representative will assist you.

  10. Can a minor get a Massachusetts Identification Card?
    Yes, please see the Obtaining a Massachusetts Identification if you are at least 16.
    You must be 21 to get a Liquor ID - see the Obtaining a Massachusetts Liquor ID page.

  11. I was recently married/divorced and need to correct my name on my license/ID. What do I need to do?
    You should make the change with the Social Security Administration(SSA) before you change your name on your driver's license. This is to ensure that the SSA recognizes your new name when the RMV attempts to validate your SSN

    Please visit any RMV Full Service Center. You will need your social security card w/ your new name, a completed Class D, M, or D/M License and ID Card Application, and $25 to have the amended license/id issued.
