Professional Driving School Road Test Pass/Fail Rates

There are two paths a person can take to schedule a Class D road test to become licensed in Massachusetts:

  1. You may book a road test as an individual through the RMV online service, through the RMV automated telephone service, or by calling the RMV Phone Center. These tests cost $20 and are offered Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  2. You may book a road test through a professional driving school by contacting them directly. Some driving schools may offer to book your road test during alternative hours, such as weekends, when RMV road tests would not be available. The school will charge a fee for this service, in addition to the RMV-required fee for a road test.

Note: These are only the pass/fail rates for weekend road tests. Road tests booked with professional driving schools on the regular weekday schedule are not included in these pass/fail rates.

We hope this information will be helpful as you decide which professional driving school to attend.
