MassDOT Schedules Capital Conversations, Regional Outreach Meetings to Support Development of Five-Year Capital Investment Plan

Community members are encouraged to talk to MassDOT about regional transportation investments

BOSTON – October 8, 2015 – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is scheduling “Capital Conversations,” a series of community meetings to solicit input on potential transportation projects to be included in the agency’s upcoming five-year Capital Investment Plan (CIP) for Fiscal Years 2017-2021.  The sixteen meetings will be held throughout the Commonwealth beginning on Monday, Oct. 19, and continuing through Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015.

“MassDOT is excited to host these Capital Conversations in order to engage members of the public in the critical decisions about investing in our transportation infrastructure,” said Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack. “These meetings will help us to develop a comprehensive, data-driven document that strategically identifies and prioritizes transportation projects for the immediate future.  We look forward to robust participation by the public in the meetings.”

The CIP will serve as a multi-modal unified plan that identifies and prioritizes five years of capital projects for the Highway Division, the MBTA, statewide rail, transit, and aeronautics projects.  Capital investments for the Registry of Motor Vehicles will also be included.  Representatives from various MassDOT agencies, including the MBTA, will be on hand at the Capital Conversations to listen to comments and feedback from meeting participants.

In addition, MassDOT encourages those who are unable to attend the meetings to join the Capital Conversation online by sharing their ideas by e-mailing  Thoughts and ideas can also be shared by using, which will be available beginning on Oct. 19.
