Fall River RMV to Open Doors in New Location Monday, January 4

Branch Moves to Sagamore Mill Complex after 11 years on Plymouth Avenue

BOSTON – Thursday, December 31, 2015 -- On Monday, January 4, the MassDOT Registry of Motor Vehicles Division will welcome customers to its new location in Fall River. The new branch has been designed to improve efficiency and reduce customer wait times. The new branch is nearly twice the size of the former location.

During the month of November this year, at the former location, more than 7,000 customers were served at the RMV Fall River branch. The new Fall River branch is located at 1794 North Main Street, in the Sagamore Mill Complex, and hours of operation can be found at

The branch opening follows an announcement by Governor Baker and Lieutenant Governor Polito earlier this week about innovative service improvements at the RMV. Specifically, the Governor and Lieutenant Governor credited a new dual-line queuing method with a state-wide reduction in branch wait times. Through this system, a “Ready to Go Line” provides a Green Line for prepared customers to immediately enter the line, and an Orange Line for customers who need more assistance and who need to perform lengthier transactions.

Since September of 2015, eleven branches have converted to this system, with remaining branches to be converted next year. The dual-line model is built into the design of the new Fall River branch.  Under the new system, 74% of customers were served within 30 minutes in November 2015, compared to 59% in November 2014. The new model has also been successful in reducing and eliminating the "hidden wait time" customers spend in line for a ticket in order to be served.

The RMV reminds customers that the best place to do business is online as it offers over 20 online services online at For the latest RMV news follow Twitter @MassRMV #skiptheline.
